This compact Atlas Hapi Drum with vintage atlas design 13x9cm – includes mallets and beautifully stitched carry case Hapi drums produce distinctive sound through vibrating steel tongue. When the tongue is lightly and quickly struck with a finger or mallet, it vibrates and generates sound waves. By adjusting the shape and length of each tongue, the instrument achieves optimal vibration and a pure, resonant tone. The notes are arranged so that when one is played, it gently activates nearby, harmonically compatible notes. This interaction enriches the tone with additional harmonics, creating a fuller, layered sound rather than a single pitch. The resulting tone resembles that of singing bowls or musical bells, known for their complex overtones. The drum’s body serves as a resonating chamber, further deepening and enhancing the sound.
